My name is Jason Bhardwaj, and I am energized by the opportunity to represent my fellow NPS families and community members on the Newton School Committee. I am running for the Ward 3 seat, which will be open in 2025 and is voted on by all Newton residents.

Like many families, my wife Shweta and I moved to Newton in large part as a city with a reputation for strong schools within a more diverse community. Our children (we have two, in first and fourth grade at Peirce) have had many positive experiences in the Newton Public Schools, learned from dedicated teachers, and developed close friendships. We have deeply valued being part of a rich and tight-knit community – in our minds a hallmark of neighborhood public schools.

I also believe that there are opportunities to ensure NPS’ continued strength now and into the future. My goal is to support keeping Newton a top-performing district, offering excellence in education for all students.

I’ve noted an initial set of priorities that are informed by the themes I’ve heard from community members.
